A little background to explain my current passion for good food..
I was 'best friends' with a girl from year 2 until year 8 at school who was a terrible emotional bully. I wasn't allowed to do anything, talk to anyone and so on and I became very miserable until our so-called friendship ended because she moved away. Since she was no longer there to dictate my life I didn't know what to do with myself and developed disordered eating habits, which quickly became more and more dangerous. I was scared of food, ate an absolute max of 700cals per day, took laxatives daily and exercised at least 2 hours a day, 4 when I could. I was very lucky to recover before it got any worse.
Aaanywho, since recovering, I freaking LOVE food!! It also really taught me to appreciate how great it feels to be healthy in comparison to how I felt physically back then.
Now I always try to eat healthy meals and have healthful snacks in between. It does get hard to do this sometimes because of my current work schedule (see profile) but I do my best. And in an effort to make sure I always maintain a healthy relationship with food I don't ban any foods and I allow myself treats. I don't count calories or macronutrients anymore, which is a huge achievement for me - that was such a difficult habit to break. I have also learned that the less I think about food the more I make healthy choices anyway!
